Do you ship beignets??
This is a must when visiting the area! We are lucky and grab these for breakfast several times a year. Always a crowd pleaser for a group breakfast. Staff is always friendly and welcoming, plan to arrive early as this is not a secret and often a busy place
MoreTerrible owners! Do not go here!!!!
Beignets were good. The lady taking the order was nice. But Rodney, the guy making the beignets was HORRIBLE!!! Had an attitude as soon as we walked in, giving us dirty looks and running his mouth to the lady taking orders and to the customers! Won't go back because of him....period!! The owners need to fire him and if he's the owner, get out of the cafe and hire someone else! No sense in being that rude to people giving the place business!
MoreI'd never had a beignets prior to this. The gentleman working didn't appear overly excited to be there but he did have a suggestion box behind the register about 10 feet off the ground. Basically, he knows he has a good product and if you don't like the way he runs the business then don't eat there, others will....
MoreVery quick and good. Glad we stopped in to try it before leaving town.
Love the beignets, coffee needs to be authentically stronger for chicory.
These were fabulous! After reading reviews of the curmudgeonly man doing the cooking I looked for other beignets to find none. The reviews on the beignets were so good I decided to try it anyway. Oh my goodness were these delish and the service was fantastic as well. No issues other than my scale won't be happy when I go back every morning for the rest of my vacay.
MoreI was craving for beignets this morning and decided to try this place, and I am glad that I did. The beignets were piping hot and fast service. I ordered one dozen plain, and one order of filled beignets, so yummy with coffee or by itself. The staff were awesome, so give this place a try. Highly recommended...
MoreWe (my husband and myself) walked in to order but since we weren't familiar with what he offered (we are on vacation) we were looking at the menu on the counter. No one was in the store but us and the owner (we are assuming he is the owner). The owner was very rude and told us only people that were buying could come into his store. I told him we were buying and he said we needed to see the menu from outside we couldn't be inside regardless. He was total jerk! We left without purchasing anything! I don't think I have ever had anyone talk to a customer so rudely!
MoreVery quick got 2 dozen in less than 3 minutes! And everyone was very friendly!
Small and simple. Tasty beignets and coffee. Located in the Rouses supermarket center off hwy 59 In Gulf Shores.
MoreTried to get some to go and was greeted by a very rude man informing me that he was closed and I should have come earlier. Oh and he was closing early tomorrow if I was coming back. That is a big negative jerk! You will get none of my money.
MoreOwner (?) Informed us that they were closing and we would have to order to-go at 11:35. It was our first time in there and he just kept asking what we wanted over and over without offering any options. He gave us plain beignets with no filling. The woman was nice, but he sucked. Won't be returning.
MoreMy husband recently brought home some beignets and they were so delicious! Probably the best I've had since NOLA.
MoreDelicious beignets! Staff was a little unapproachable, but the quality of the product is worth it.
MoreMan hate to leave a negative review. Quickly though :Have to use an atm right next to the register? In the age of Square, that's one star off. Presentation... Looked like he plopped the beignets into the donut box and heaved a handful of powdered sugar over some, but not others. Look, I'm not the froofy type, but come on. Have some pride. Another star gone. Lastly, when I offered to adjust giving a dollar to avoid a bunch of one's, The Cook in the back reared his greasy dirty head outta the cooks window with suspicion and asked "what's going on?!"On the positive side, they tasted good. At least there was that.
MoreWow Rude! Showed up 15 minutes until closing, door was locked and a very rude gesture was made and he shook his head. Incredible! Glad though we didn't have the chance to spend our money there!
MoreWe drove an hour and a half from Mobile to check it out because my 13 year old is learning how to make beignets and we wanted to show her authentic beignets without having to go to New Orleans. The service wasnt bad, but wasnt great either. Food was average. Worth it if you need a quick fix
MoreGreat beignets. Light and powdered. Fun art work on the walls. Opened to noonish....
MoreThe beignets themselves were good. This was our first time in this cafe and first trying beignets. Going in I told the man ( I think the owner) I had never had them but would like to try them. I said what kind do you have. He acted as though it was taking all he had to tell me. He was very rude and not at all once acted as though he could careless if he had our service or not. I have worked in food service before and would never had greeted a customer this way. Maybe having a bad day. I don’t know but would never grace their door again. Hopefully if you go there your service will be better. Very disappointed in hospitality. Horrible!
MoreEvery bad review is a perfect description of our experience. If these people act like this in their business, just imagine how they act at home. The beignets were good, but not as good as the ones in New Orleans. Must be all the meanness In the air. When I asked the lady upfront, “Could I order-“ that’s all I could get out before she said “NO.” Life must really suck, sorry.
MoreSuch a great local spot! Rodney Church is very personalable and courteous! Our food was made to order and he sat and chatted with us while we ate. Felt like sitting at home at the breakfast table! LOVE THIS PLACE!
MoreCook was very rude. Food was mediocre.
If I could give a zero I would. And the owners know everyone feels the same. They were so rude I just walked out and drove to orange beach to find kindness and professionalism.
MoreI loved this little beignet place! We brought a whole box home to share. They were hot and deliciously covered in powdered sugar. They serve coffee and other drinks. The lady was friendly. I can see how this spot next to the grocery store would be a favorite.
MoreI was disappointed to discover these beignets are not made with yeast. They had an off sour taste I couldn't decide if it was soured dough or the baking powder. They were very expensive for a less than satisfactory product. The coffee was outrageously priced at $2.50 per cup for weak mediocre coffee. The vanilla filling was a transparent gel, reminiscent of a previous experience with canned filling a misguided individual tried to substitute for an authentic vanilla cream pudding. The man frying the beignets was a grouch. The dude needs to lighten up and try smiling. Not a pleasant experience. I won't be returning.
MoreJeez! I'm so glad that this has appeared on my list of places to rate. Earlier this year we were there when the tropical storm came in. We had to leave our vacation house early or face the possibility of not getting home at all. While leaving town we stopped here and had beignets before we left to come home. The man who runs this is a one-man show. The day we were there as I said, everyone was trying to get out of town and his help wasn't there so he was running things all by himself. He was gracious enough to give us a couple of extra Beignets and refill our coffee before we left; gracious fellow. These Beignets rate very easily with the best I've had in Louisiana, I highly recommend this little cafe! Just coffee and Beignets, but that's enough.
MoreThe staff is absolutely fabulous. The service was great. However, these beignets taste nothing like the one's in New Orleans, which is what I was expecting.
MoreThey are okay. Definitely not Cafe DuMonde.
Good beignets. Nice folks serving the food. Recommended.
So delicious! My family always make sure to stop here when we are in the area. Friendly staff and great service!
MoreYummy beignets, quick service.
Only place in Gulf Shores to grab Beignets. Made fresh right in front of you. Definitely a place for a little local fare.
MoreWalked in around 8:45am on a Saturday morning and it smelled wonderful. We were greeted with a friendly good morning and what can I get for you today? We had a crowd to feed so we ordered 2 dozen regular and a dozen mixed filled. They were hot and smelled so good all the way home. When the gang dove in they said they were delicious. One of our friends has had true New Orleans beignets and said these were very close to the original. We will be back next year for more!
MoreThe chef was extremely ruide to the staff. He was yelling in front of customers. He was counting the til all huffy in front of customers. He was not patiently waiting for the wait staff to take customer orders he was rushing the customers and being snooty while doing it. There were 6 of us together and we felt very off put by his behavior. The wait staff was wonderful. She was pleasant and doing her best to serve us. We will not go back here though and do not recommend to othrrs to go here because of the chefs attitude
MoreAwesome service , The gentleman that prepare's these Beig'nets.Has New Orleans beat hands down. Prices are just not enough to describe your tastebuds visit to this very layed back shop
MoreLet me first say the beignets are passable but I have access to better beignets in Nashville of all places. But that is not the issue. I found the place to look very run down and the attitude with the people who serve you. First there card machine was down so it was cash only. We were planning on buying coffee or drinks but we could not. Second while we were sitting down we were told to move to a different table because they keep tables open just in case a large group comes in. They were not busy while we were there and there were 3 other large tables available. Also, a group never showed up while we were there. Second the gentleman working in kitchen keep on giving giving looks like he hated his life and everyone in his restaurant. If they would change there attitude this would be a decent place to visit on vacation. Until there attitude changes I will not visit this place again. You work in the customer service business get your act together and run a friendly place
MoreIf you can't get to New Orleans and have never had a beignet, this will do the trick!
MoreThe beignets were perfect and the lady at the counter was very friendly.
Great spot for breakfat.
Charged $14.00 for 3 baguettes and two coffees.
Skimmed the reviews to make sure we didn't just catch these people on a bad day, because everyone has those. Seems to be a pretty common theme though. After an awkwardly rude greeting, we tried to place an order. Lady continued to be awkwardly rude. I think it made her more mad we weren't rude back immediately? Finally just went ahead and told them we'd go somewhere else instead of bothering them. Some people inadvertently make your day better by being so miserable, it let's you laugh and realize you've life isn't as bad as others choose to be.
MoreThe beignets were amazing but the grumpy old man who makes them ruined my mood. We came in at 10:30 and he was complaining in front of us, saying “why are so many people coming in near closing?!” When they close at 12. The waitress seemed very stressed and had to do everything. I would suggest hiring more people- preferably somebody who doesn’t complain constantly and tells the customers to leave in a rude manner.
MoreFor their Beignets, disappointed as they no longer put lemon cream inside. Not as friendly as our last visit several years ago.
MoreThe beignets are tasty but the man who owns it / cook is such a dick. The waitress was great but, in front of everyone, he berated her loudly about the way she entered things into the cash register. When we were checking out he asked us what we had and then promptly overcharged us (which seemed purposeful since we had JUST told him what we ate). When we told him, he never said sorry, seemed irritated that we'd ask for our money back, and then threw the $3 at my husband. We won't go back.
MoreBeignets were decent. The woman in the cafe was very nice. But the man did have an attitude like the other review say. Kind of a hole in the wall in the strip mall. But still pretty good.
MoreBeignets, we love beignets! Made a New Orleans’ gal proud!!
To enjoy the french beignet, there is a heavy price to pay; so by the end of my Alabama stay, i will walk to this cafe.Conquer aging 'au lait'
